The study was set to identify design opportunities that come with living conditions distinct to Singapore. Conducting observations and interviews to get clear insights on user patterns, behaviors, and mindset. Amongst the insights gathered were several issues regarding the effective use of the area that is at the inner entrance. The distinctive features identified were due to the lack of space within the home, therefore, pushing belongings out of the home and into public space. The Journal shoe cabinet design process was sought out to answer the questions that arose from these insight stories.
The Journal shoe cabinet is built to store the most amount of shoes in the least amount of space. It adheres to Singaporean user patterns and lifestyle and a serves as a hub for the daily essentials. The Journal Shoe Cabinet is a product of the human-centered design process. Staying away from the orthodox category confinements of furniture while also staying true to the philosophy of the JotterGoods brand.
